Who We Are
Rivalto is a university hall of residence and a cultural center located in the centre of Trieste. It is promoted by Associazione LEDES. Rivalto was opened in 1983 and since then it has became a meeting place for students, where they are offered encouragement and guidance they need to face with responsability their future work and the role they will play in the society, in an atmosphere in which love for work, friendship and cooperation are particularily emphasised.
Rivalto is open to all those who desire to commit themselves to reaching common goals in an atmosphere of liberty and mutual respect.
The Hall of Residence is made up of Headquarters, see of the Cultural Center too, located in Piazza Dalmazia, and a set of Apartments for university students in its close proximity.
Zenit Club for young people completes the picture of Rivalto.
Associazione LEDES
Associazione LEDES, which stands for the initial letters of Lavoro Educazione e Sport (Work, Education and Sport) is a regional non-profit association. Its activity aims at promoting the access to culture, science, technology, and art for people of all ages and professions. In doing so, it both takes into account the local specificities and strives to emphasise their European roots, thus offering new, universal horizons for all those who participate in its activities. More specifically, Associazione LEDES:
1. Promotes a culture of study and work as a privileged way to fulfill oneself and develop important skills that may be offered to the human society;
2. Favours harmonious development of human qualities, encouraging the growth both of the spirit of initiative and the abilities of working together with others, e.g. through sport;
3. Contributes to increase personal awareness as far as solidarity is concerned;
4. Organises various initiatives that aim at promoting and supporting the family, considered to be the basis of the natural society based on marriage;
5. Supports and promotes the overcoming of cultural, social and historic barriers that exist in the modern multicultural society.
In order to reach its institutional aims, Associazione LEDES may establish and manage university halls of residence and cultural centers, organise and promote educational, cultural, scientific, and artistic activities of various kinds, e.g. congresses, seminars, workcamps and various reasearch works, in order to encourage the access of young people to culture, science and art.
In 1983, in collaboration with parents and university professors, Associazione LEDES promoted Rivalto. The cultural center’s objective is to create for all young people willing to attend its activities a place where the study may be successfully integrated with a family atmosphere and where they may become better people from human, cultural, and spiritual points of view.
As for the management and the fund-raising aspects, they are carried out by Rivalto’s partners and the members of Associazione LEDES, even though anyone who shares their aims may contribute.
Associazione LEDES closely cooperates with other institutions that share similar objectives. One of these institutions is Fondazione Rui, a non-profit organization based in Rome whose activities aim at promoting a complete education of young generations by creating and managing initiatives open at international culture and professional needs of the young people.
